Why didn’t they tell us?

By Hot Flash

Who prepared you for puberty?  Told you about how your body works? Bought your first “feminine hygiene products”?  Your mother right?  So how come when it comes to menopause, they keep their mouths shut?  Same reason they don’t reveal the pain of childbirth.  I mean honest to God if you knew how painful it was, you’d remain a virgin.  But that’s not it, is it?    We’re big girls now we don’t need to be sat down and told that even the Virgin Mary had her periods. We are old enough to work menopause out for ourselves as woman have been doing since Eve.  And if you ask, mothers will answer.  As will friends.

So what’s different now?  It’s just that now we’re asking more publicly. And in response by-standers are going “Gosh, who knew!” and the answer is “Women have always known”.  Then some woman somewhere blogs “Why didn’t they tell us?”.   And the answer to that is simply “You didn’t ask”.

    I work for an Ob/Gyn.

If you ask me, they’re making menopause a medical issue just like pregnancy became.

OB/Gyns are getting out of the “OB” because of insurance and law suits and trying to expand the Gyn side of their businesses to make up for that.

    Boomers made menopause big business.
