If she knew enough to ask about estrogen, you’d think this patronizing male doctor could have safely assumed she knew about the state of her own vagina (hence her question) and the availability of OTC lubricants (hence her question) and the fact that a penis can in fact be a dangerous thing (hence her question).
Yet it is not until the 4th paragraph that he finally says “ask your doctor” but of course not without adding a caution that the risks of using low dose topical hormones are in fact … minimal.
